I would like to thank you for your continued support toward our Teen Parenting for the past 3 years. For the past 25 years, First Stage Child Care Centre is a non-profit centre and our mandate is to provide child care services while young mothers attain their education.
Your support in providing the 6 weeks Teen Parenting Skills workshop has made significant impact in the lives of the young mothers and fathers. Vivian, presenter from PEN has been an excellent leader and mentor to the group. Vivian has established an atmosphere that encourages the parents to share success and challenges, network and engage with one another. The parents learned valuable parenting skills that were transferred into their day to day interaction with their child.
When the series of workshop ended this spring, our parents asked if they can continue to meet on a weekly basis to support and network with each other, even throughout the summer months. They took it as far as naming themselves the Parent in Action group; determined to put into action what they have learn as young parents.
I have briefly shared with you how the educational workshops have made an impact in our parents and childrens lives. I would like to ask for your continued support in providing educational workshops to enhance Teen parenting skills.

Build Your Child's Self-Esteem
Paul Kropp, author of The School Solution , ( Random House, 1995 ), wrote an article for Today's Parent entitled Is Your Child Addicted to Praise? Kropp says: "When undeserved, praise can warp a child's sense of self." Give your child honest feedback, encourage their efforts, and allow your child room for self-evaluation.
The following are excellent reminders for all parents:
Not every nail in the deck has to be straight.

All kinds of organizations want your hard-earned money. We're no different. Except that P.E.N. uses every cent you send to help parents learn how to raise their children better. Better children mean a better world. Parents naturally love their children. But they need help and skills to use that love to guide the child, so that the child becomes a responsible and respectful citizen.
P.E.N. knows that it's all about respect for the child and respect for the parent, and we want to spread that lesson. With your dollars and cents, we can reach out to more parents than ever, from all walks of life.
